Madeline Hunter
This week in class we listened about Madeline Hunter parts of a lesson plan. This is exciting for me because I already do lesson plannning and I know this will be helpful in my current classroom. Working with Early childhood SPED children you always have to be aware of pedogogical goals. I never knew there were so many parts to lesson plans! When we plan on fridays in my classroom we break it down by each kid. We have "typical" developing students but we don't talk about them we just normally focus on IEP students and how to help them get the most out of the lessons. Starting next week we begin Fundations with our classes and I know that many of the typical developing students will get a little more out of it than some of our IEP students but it will still be nice to incorporate. I feel that modeling is my favorite part of any lesson. I am a visual learner and after seeing how something is created or done I can tend to put my own twist on it as well.
Hi Tiffany
ReplyDeleteThis was a great week in Learning about lesson plans. This will be my 1st! Madeline Hunter gives an 8 step overview of effective lesson plans. She explains how teachers use an effective method when planning and presenting a lesson to our students. There are 8 elements for the Lesson Design. The Anticipatory set focuses on students thoughts and what they will be learning. Objective and Purpose focuses on what the student will be able to do. The demonstration of the learning as a result.
Input focuses on new knowledge and skills through discovery, discussion etc.
Modeling, Checking for Understanding, Guided practice, Independent practice and Closure
I think it is awesome that you can now take this model to create your lesson plans. It allows for more options and maybe even better lesson plans, when you have more options on lesson plan formats. I also am a visual learner and think that the modeling section is important for other visual learners. I hope this helps with your future lesson plan making. Thanks for sharing through your personal experience in the classroom. Great Post!
ReplyDeleteI also work with SPED kids and breaking it down for each student has also worked with me! My favorite part is also the Modeling. I like being able to show my kids new information and for them to have that "ah hah!" moment.
